On May 4, according to the report of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health) during the 5 days off, medical facilities nationwide received 17,250 patients suspected of being involved in traffic accidents (TNGT). Of these, 6,588 people were hospitalized, 1,649 people had to be transferred, and 58 people died (including 40 people who died before arriving at the hospital and 18 people who died at medical facilities). In addition, 40 cases of predicted deaths due to traffic accidents have been confirmed and 4,325 people have been discharged from the hospital.
As of 7:00 a.m. on May 4, 2025, the total number of people being treated at hospitals was 251,449, down from 283,221 people on March 3. Within the last 24 hours of the holiday, the facilities examined and provided emergency care to nearly 969,000 people, received more than 181,000 hospitalizations, transferred more than 19,000 cases, and recorded 1,357 deaths from various causes.
During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the entire medical examination and treatment system nationwide strictly implemented the direction of the Ministry of Health, ensuring on-duty work, medical examination and treatment and 24/24 hour traffic accident emergency care. Thanks to careful preparation, the situation of examination, emergency care and treatment of traffic accidents has not changed compared to the same period last year.
According to a report from the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health), all hospitals have maintained four-level on-duty, fully prepared with medicine, medical equipment and human resources ready to respond to emergency situations. During the 5 days off, the number of medical examinations and emergencies related to traffic accidents was recorded at 17,250 cases - equivalent to the average of previous years.
The failure to record overload or unusual changes in traffic accident emergency work shows the effectiveness of preparation, coordination and direction of the health sector during the peak holiday season.
