2 groups of people should abstain from drinking milk in the morning

Milk is a necessary nutrient for the body. However, experts say not everyone is suitable for drinking milk immediately after waking up.

Lactose intolerance or milk allergy

According to nutritionist Dr. Rupali Datta, people with lactose intolerance may experience bloating, diarrhea or abdominal pain after drinking milk, especially when drinking empty.

The reason is that the body lacks the enzyme lactase to break down lactose, the natural sugar in milk. When lactose is not properly digested, it will cause digestive disorders, making drinkers feel uncomfortable.

People allergic to dairy proteins such as casein or whey should also avoid drinking milk, as reactions such as rash, abdominal pain, or shortness of breath may appear.

People with stomach disease or sensitive digestive system

Experts say that drinking milk on an empty stomach can increase stomach acid secretion and make symptoms of gastritis, reflux or digestive disorders worse.

According to Dr. Shen Yonghua, drinking milk without eating anything can cause milk to pass through the stomach faster, reduce absorption efficiency and cause bloating or discomfort in people with weak digestive systems.

Not everyone needs to abstain completely

Experts emphasize that for healthy people, milk is still a nutritious food and can be used in the morning. However, it should be taken with meals or after a snack to help the body absorb better and avoid digestive irritation.

Listening to the body's reactions and choosing the right time to drink milk is the key to taking advantage of nutritional benefits while protecting long-term health.
