Washing your hair too often or incorrectly
According to Dr. Shilpi Khetarpal - Cleveland Clinic Hospital System (USA), washing your hair too often can lose the natural oil layer protecting the scalp. This makes hair become dry and easily break down.
The habit of scrubbing vigorously when washing your hair also damages hair follicles, causing more hair to fall out. Doctors recommend washing your hair 2-3 times a week, and massage gently to protect the hair roots.
Tying hair too tightly for a long time
Tying hair in a ponytail, high bun, or braiding too tightly can cause hair loss due to stretching the roots, this condition is called hair loss due to force. If tying hair too tightly, hair follicles can be permanently damaged and make it difficult for hair to grow back. Experts recommend loosely tying hair, changing hairstyles frequently to reduce pressure on the scalp.
Prolonged malnutrition
A diet lacking protein, iron or vitamins is also a cause of heavy hair loss. Hair needs to be provided with enough nutrients for healthy development. When the body is malnourished, hair will become weak, easily broken and fall out more.
Experts recommend that to limit hair loss, a balanced diet should be maintained, avoid tying hair too tightly and take care of hair gently. If hair loss lasts, people should go to the doctor to find the cause and treat it promptly.
