The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) has sent a document to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health requesting urgent investigation and handling of a suspected food poisoning case occurring in Cam Ranh ward.
According to initial information, on July 2nd, many people after eating at Quynh Nga chicken rice restaurant showed symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and had to be hospitalized for treatment at Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital. These cases are suspected to be related to food poisoning.
Before the developments of the incident, the Food Safety Department requested the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health to direct medical facilities to focus resources on treating and monitoring patients' health, minimizing the impact on health and life.
At the same time, the local health sector must urgently organize investigations, trace the origin of food, clearly identify the source of raw materials and food suspected of causing poisoning; take food and specimens for testing to find the cause. Food safety violations (if any) must be strictly handled according to regulations and publicize the results to warn the community.
The Food Safety Department also requested to strengthen inspection and propaganda for food service business establishments on ensuring food safety conditions, controlling the origin of raw materials, implementing hygiene in the process of processing and transporting food, three-step inspection and storing food samples according to regulations.
In addition, the Department of Health of Khanh Hoa province is required to strictly implement the directions of the Government and the Ministry of Health on strengthening food poisoning prevention and ensuring food safety in street food business.
The Food Safety Department requests localities to closely monitor the developments of the case, make quick reports, proactively provide information and soon publicize the investigation results to warn people, and at the same time report the results to the Department according to regulations.
