Meritoriousness can recur
According to Doctor Vu Thu Trang, Department of Allergy, Dermatology - Allergy Center, 108 Central Military Hospital, hives are a rash skin condition characterized by rashes and itching, easily recognizable symptoms, the lesion is a slightly edema, cyanosis on the skin like a mosquito bite (edema).
Each edema lasts about 2-4 hours and disappears without treatment (the edema is no more than 24 hours), but then other rough edges appear and continue to cause itching.
Meritoriousness is sometimes accompanied by symptoms of edema around the eye, lips, tongue, throat... also known as bulge, which can cause acute difficulty breathing and even death if not treated promptly.
There are many possible causes of the disease
Dr. Trang emphasized that according to popular opinion, hives are thought to originate from impaired liver function (or liver heat), however, this view has been proven incorrect.
"In fact, hives are a result of an allergic reaction, meaning the immune system reacts excessively to allergens," said Dr. Trang.
Factors considered the cause of allergies when entering the body will stimulate the immune system, causing the body to release many chemical intermediaries, of which the most is Histamine.
Histamine activects dilation of small blood vessels under the skin, excretion increases absorption into vessel walls, causing edema, stimulating the end of the nerve to feel itchy, smooth muscle contractions, causing difficulty breathing, abdominal pain. In addition, it also activates many other inflammatory intermediates (heat, fever).
According to Dr. Trang, the cause of urticaria is very complicated, and the same patient can have one or more causes at the same time. Depending on the acute or chronic hives, the cause may vary, some common causes of the disease are:
- Food allergies: the body is allergic to the ingredients of some foods such as eggs, milk, beans, shrimp, crab... in general, there are many foods in both animal and plant that can cause hives in people with allergic motives.
- Due to medication: Some people experience hives due to sensitivity to some drug ingredients such as aspirin, antibiotics, ibuprofen...
- Due to exposure to foreign objects: pollen, various types of dust, smoke, animal fur, mold, wool...
- Due to physical factors: Pressure of applied pressure (floating skin), temperature, humidity, sunlight, water...
- Due to increased body heat often after exercise, stress, eating spicy foods
- Due to infection, chronic inflammation: Some studies show a link between infections ( Helicobacter pylori infection, hepatitis A, hepatitis C, sore throat infections, intestinal parasites), chronic inflammation ( coursearitis, reflux epidemics, or gallbladder inflammation, gallbladder) and chronic hives. However, there is little evidence of this link and the mechanism for disease initiation is unclear.
- Due to autoimmune diseases: Limps related to autoimmune diseases of connective tissue such as lupus redness of the system or Sjögren syndrome... but they often manifest as hives inflammation, hives damages last for more than 12 to 24 hours, slow changes in size and shape, leaving hyperpigmentation due to hemosiderin deposition.
- No cause found: Up to 50% of cases of hives cannot find a special cause for chronic hives and this type is classified as spontaneous termic hives or inorganic termic hives.
Thus, the cause of hives is not due to the liver or simple parasitic infection, but there are many other causes. Patients with hives need to be examined by a specialist and conduct the necessary tests to assess, classify and find the cause.
