Minister of Health inspects measles vaccination in Quang Ninh

Quang Ninh - On March 27, the Government working delegation led by the Minister of Health inspected the measles prevention and vaccination campaign in Quang Ninh.

Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has recorded 195 cases of measles. Of which, over 70% of cases have not been vaccinated, over 12% have unknown vaccination history, over 16% have been vaccinated with at least one dose of measles vaccine. The whole province did not have an outbreak like many localities in the country.

In order to increase the rate of measles immunity in the community, from March 21, Quang Ninh has resolutely implemented a measles vaccination campaign in all localities in the area. 190 vaccination teams have been established in communes, wards, towns and at 3 hospitals: Provincial General Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Vietnam Sweden - Uong Bi to deploy vaccination campaigns; 45 emergency teams have been established at hospitals, district, town and city health centers.

The whole province currently has 200 vaccination points, including 179 expanded vaccination points at health stations, 3 vaccination points at hospitals and 20 vaccination points at schools. The total available measles vaccine in the province is 42,550 doses, enough to deploy the campaign across the province. Quang Ninh province will strive to complete the measles vaccination campaign in the province before March 29, 2025. The campaign's goal is to achieve over 95% of children aged 6 months to 10 who have not been vaccinated or have not been vaccinated enough with measles-containing vaccines; proactively prevent epidemics, reduce the incidence and mortality rate, and prevent outbreaks.

Through a field inspection of the implementation of measles vaccination at Hiep Hoa Commune Health Station, Quang Yen Town Health Center and listening to the report of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Health, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan highly appreciated the special attention of Quang Ninh province for the work of protecting and caring for people's health, thereby stabilizing the area to safety, contributing positively to the development of the local socio-economy. The effective implementation of the measles vaccination campaign in Quang Ninh demonstrates the province's proactive spirit of early and remote disease prevention.

The Minister of Health acknowledged the methodical approach of Quang Ninh province, which is a bright spot in implementing measles vaccination nationwide. The practical experience of Quang Ninh in leadership, direction, the participation of authorities at all levels, related sectors, and communication work for people to grasp and consensus on will be a lesson to replicate to localities nationwide, ensuring effective implementation of disease prevention work in accordance with the Government's direction.
