On April 19, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) said that the Austrian Food Safety and Health Agency has announced that HiPP Company - a German-Swiss children's food manufacturer and the SPAR supermarket chain have recalled all 190 gram jars of carrot and potato mixture (HiPP Vegetable Carrot with Potato) products at 1,500 stores nationwide.
The reason is suspected that this product contains rat poison.
Before the above information, the Food Safety Department requested the Departments of Health, Food Safety Departments, and Sub-Departments of Food Safety of provinces and cities to urgently review the registration of declarations and self-declarations for HiPP weaning jar products.
Units working with the company announcing the HiPP weaning jar product (if any), requesting the company to notify distributors and consumers to stop using the product and proceed with recall according to the manufacturer's recommendations, report and propose measures to handle product batches according to the recall information mentioned above.
The Food Safety Department also requested to propagate information to consumers to not use all of the above-mentioned HiPP weaning jar product batches.
On the same day, the Food Safety Department also sent an official letter to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade on the management of food business in e-commerce.
In the official dispatch, the Food Safety Department requested the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy to notify e-commerce platforms, sales websites, and coordinate with booth owners and distributors to request the cessation of business of the above-mentioned milk batches if they circulate in Vietnam.
Remove information about poor quality products and handle them according to the provisions of law if any," the Official Dispatch of the Food Safety Department clearly stated.
