According to the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP), the way to do a muscular endurance test is how many push-ups you can do. Although you can do this test on your own, it's helpful to have a friend count to help you and monitor your posture.
To perform a push-up properly and test your muscle endurance, place your hands flat on the ground, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Get into a high plank position with your body aligned from head to hips to heels.
Then, bend your elbows at about a 45-degree angle from your body and lower your body to the ground. When lowering your body, squeeze your shoulder blades together and push them apart to return to the starting position.
In 1 minute, men under 30 years old must do at least 33 push-ups and women must do at least 18 push-ups. Men aged 30 - 39 only need to do 27 push-ups, while women must meet the requirement of at least 14 push-ups.
Doing push-ups regularly can also help strengthen bones, prevent injuries to bones and muscles, and control blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
