Medical cluster according to the Institute - School model
February 14. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that since 2015, the specialized medical cluster in Tan Kien commune, Binh Chanh district has been planned to attract hospitals, large medical facilities and universities in the city's health sector.
The connection between medical universities and hospitals and medical facilities not only helps improve the quality of health care for people but also creates an advanced medical training and research environment.
In addition, the specialized medical cluster in Tan Kien commune is also expected to contribute to reducing the burden on hospitals in the city center and serving the medical examination and treatment of people in the Mekong Delta provinces.

It can be said that this is a medical cluster according to the Institute - School model formed first in Vietnam according to the model standards of countries with developed healthcare in the world.
In 2015, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the 1/2000 scale zoning plan for the Tan Kien Commune Intensive Care Cluster with a planning area of over 73 hectares.
Up to now, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and modern specialized hospitals and centers have been inaugurated and put into effective operation at the Tan Kien Commune Intensive Care Medical Cluster in phase 1 with a total area of 33.32 hectares.
Of which, the City Children's Hospital was officially inaugurated in 2018, with a scale of 1,000 beds. This is one of the three final pediatric hospitals in the city and the southern provinces; the new facility of the Hematology Blood Transfusion Hospital will be put into operation in 2021, with a scale of 300 beds; the City's Traditional Medicine Center will operate in 2023...
In phase 2, the planning area will increase to 73 hectares
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is adjusting the zoning plan at a scale of 1/2000 for phase 2, increasing the initial planning area from 55.03 hectares to 73 hectares. The city is also urgently implementing compensation and site clearance to ensure project progress.

This phase will add important projects to strengthen infrastructure and develop the area comprehensively, meeting the increasingly high demand for health care of people such as the 115 Emergency Center - Facility 2, Trauma Hospital.
In addition, many other important projects such as the Test Standards Center, Blood Bank, High-Tech Disease Screening Center and the Practice Hospital of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine... are also being implemented. In particular, this area will be planned to be built according to the green healthcare model along with accommodation for patients' relatives.
At the same time, in the city's traffic infrastructure development plan, the specialized medical cluster in Tan Kien commune will be connected to Ring Road 3 and Metro Line 3 system. These utilities not only create a friendly living and working environment but also improve the quality of medical services in the locality.
