Having itchy feet for 5 years now, every summer, Mr. Hoang Nhu Thuy's condition (Chuong My ward, Hanoi) becomes more severe. Initially, it was only a mild itch, but over time, the symptoms became increasingly obvious. In recent days, when the heat returned, his feet continuously tingled, forcing him to go for an examination to find a treatment direction.
According to Mr. Thuy, in winter, this condition almost never appears. Previously, he often applied medicine at home but did not recover, so this year he had to go to the hospital for examination.
Also encountering dermatological problems in the summer, after 3 days of traveling in Da Nang during the peak heat, the skin of Mr. Nguyen Quy Duy (Hai Phong) appeared many small pimples. Initially, it was just a few pimples on his forehead, but after the trip, the pimples spread even though he still maintained the habit of washing his face as at home.
After examination at the hospital, he was diagnosed with folliculitis and acne. According to Mr. Duy, the cause may be due to prolonged sun exposure, combined with sweat, grease and dirt, causing his skin to be irritated.

According to doctors, in the hot season, skin diseases tend to increase. Recorded at the National Hospital of Dermatology, although it is only the beginning of summer, the number of patients coming for skin problems this week has increased by about 10-20% compared to the previous week and is forecast to continue to increase in the coming time.
Doctor CKII Vu Thi Phuong Dung, Department of Examination, Central Dermatology Hospital, said that in hot weather conditions, high temperatures and strong UV rays weaken the skin's protective barrier. At the same time, the body increases sweat and sebum secretion, creating a favorable environment for bacteria and fungi to develop. This is the reason why diseases such as sun-induced dermatitis, prickly heat, skin fungus (skin fungus, inguinal fungus, interstitial fungus), folliculitis, acne, atopic dermatitis or sun-induced allergies increase. In addition, skin diseases caused by insects are also more common during this time.
For cases of foot fungus like Mr. Thuy, the doctor said that it can be treated with topical antifungal drugs; if the lesion spreads, it is necessary to combine with oral medication as prescribed. Patients need to keep the skin always dry and ventilated, especially limit wearing shoes and socks for a long time, instead, they should use sandals to reduce stuffiness.
Experts also recommend that in the summer, proper skin cleansing plays an important role. People should choose a cleanser suitable for their skin type and weather to deeply cleanse, and prioritize liquid or gel skin care products to avoid clogging pores.
In prolonged hot weather conditions, everyone needs to pay attention to personal hygiene, choose airy, sweat-absorbing clothing and keep the body clean to limit the risk of skin diseases.
