Warning about diaper dermatitis in children

Thanh Thanh |

Diaper dermatitis is one of the common diseases in infants.

According to Dr. Pham Ngoc Tram - Department of Clinical Medicine 1, Ho Chi Minh City Dermatology Hospital, diaper dermatitis is one of the common diseases in newborns. The hospital also receives many pediatric patients for examination and treatment of this disease.

Diaper dermatitis is common in children aged 9-12 months. The disease can also occur in children in the first week after birth. The clinical manifestations of this disease are quite diverse such as: plaques, erythema, vesicles, pustules... in the diaper area.

Diaper dermatitis can be caused by local factors such as irritant contact dermatitis, allergies, and Candida infections. The disease can also be caused by systemic factors such as inverse psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, etc.

The causes and pathogenesis are different. Each clinical situation requires a separate appropriate treatment method. Moreover, some cases can lead to serious complications if not diagnosed early and treated promptly.

Therefore, when children have lesions in the diaper area, parents and relatives need to take the child to a reputable medical facility for a comprehensive examination by doctors and appropriate tests. From there, a quick diagnosis and timely treatment can be made to help the child improve symptoms.
