On January 27, Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital informed that it had just intervened for emergency care, saving patient T.T.L (42 years old, residing in Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province) with a very dangerous carotid artery aneurysm.
Previously, on January 10, the female patient was hospitalized with symptoms of prolonged headache, mainly on both sides of the temples. A week before being hospitalized, the patient had a faint pain in the occipital region, but common pain relievers were not effective.
Doctors and nurses held inter-departmental consultations including Cardiovascular Surgery and IMAGING Diagnosis, determining that the patient had a large blister in the left carotid artery, located in the eye artery section, size 10 x 8 x 6 mm. The risk of blister rupture leading to cerebral hemorrhage or stroke is very high if not treated promptly.
The medical team performed interventional treatment for aneurysm sacs using stent technology to redirect the flow through a digital scanning system (DSA). After 5 days of treatment, the patient's health stabilized, headaches decreased significantly, and eyes could see clearly.
