On February 17 (the 1st day of Binh Ngo Tet 2026), the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police (CSGT) force simultaneously launched a campaign to check alcohol concentration to ensure traffic order and safety for people enjoying spring.

At about 11 am, the Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team (PC08 Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police) set up a checkpoint at the Pham Van Dong - Nguyen Xi intersection (Binh Loi Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
Functional forces arranged officials to divert traffic from afar, guide vehicles to move slowly, and in turn enter the inspection area in accordance with regulations.
At 11:20 am on the same day, the task force discovered Mr. N.T. T (born in 1976, residing in Gia Dinh ward) driving a motorbike on Le Quang Dinh street (Binh Loi Trung ward) showing signs of using alcohol and beer, so they requested him to stop the vehicle for inspection.

The measurement results showed that Mr. T violated the alcohol concentration at 0.363 milligrams/liter of breath, so a record was made and sanctioned according to regulations.
Working with the traffic police, Mr. T said that he had previously gone to wish colleagues a Happy New Year and had drunk about 4 cans of beer.
According to current regulations, with this level of violation, Mr. T was fined 7 million VND and deducted 10 points from his driver's license.
At the same time, the Northwest Traffic Police Station also deployed inspection and handling of alcohol concentration violations and discovered many violations.
For example, at about 10 am, the task force discovered a man driving a motorbike on provincial road 15 violating at a level of 0.261 milligrams/liter of breath.
This person said that he had used beer at a relative's house at the beginning of the year. With the above violation, the male driver was fined 7 million VND and had his driver's license deducted 10 points.
According to the Traffic Police Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police), implementing the plan of the Traffic Police Department (C08, Ministry of Public Security), from 10 am on the 1st day of Tet, the entire city's traffic police force simultaneously deployed a thematic alcohol concentration test.
In addition to this topic, the working groups also strengthen the handling of other violations such as speeding, going in the wrong lane, carrying more people than prescribed,... to proactively prevent and reduce traffic accidents during Tet.
