At around 12:20 on September 28, Van Don Special Region Medical Center received a report that an urgent patient from Quan Lan Island needed to be treated at the center for surgery.
Immediately after receiving the information, an emergency team was urgently dispatched to a specialized boat to the island.
After nearly 2 hours of surpassing the waves, the emergency boat was only a few minutes away from Quan Lan but had difficulty approaching the wharf due to the impact of storm No. 10.
In response to the emergency situation, the Van Don Special Forces Medical Center requested the Provincial Border Guard to support and mobilize military boats to ensure safe docking and quick access to patients.
At Quan Lan, the work of examining and providing initial care for patients was urgently deployed, and the next transportation plan was also ready when conditions allowed.
On the boat, the medical team prepared adequate equipment and medicine to respond to any emergency situations that may arise on the return journey.

At 3:00 p.m. the same day, the military ship approached Quan Lan Island and promptly picked up the patient and brought him to the Van Don Special Forces Medical Center safely.
Immediately upon admission, the patient was taken directly to the operating room; the medical team quickly examined, resuscitated and was ready for emergency surgery.
Thanks to careful preparation, coordinated smoothly and high determination, the patient's condition was initially controlled stably.
The journey to save people in the midst of storms in Quan Lan once again affirms the sense of responsibility, courage and dedication of the medical team of Van Don Special Zone and the Quang Ninh Border Guard force, which are always ready to protect people's health and lives in the most severe natural conditions.
