Informing Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Noi Bai airport informed about the operation situation in the first 6 months of the year.
Notably, the On-time take-off rate (OTP) in the past year (from June 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025) was 74%. Of which, the majority of flights are delayed due to the airline's operational reasons accounting for 93.8%; flights delayed due to weather account for 1.8%, due to the reason that the Port's equipment and services account for 0.8%, flight operations account for 2.5% and other reasons account for 1.1% of the total number of delayed flights.
Noi Bai International Airport believes that this index needs to be further improved and is actively coordinating with airlines and ground-based units to deploy synchronous solutions to increase the OTP ratio in the coming time.
The representative of Noi Bai airport also said that in the first 6 months of 2025, the passenger volume through the Port reached 16.5 million, the total number of take-off and landing flights reached more than 100,000.
Notably, the main route between Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City, with departure and destination points at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat, is continuously in the group of 10 busiest domestic flights in the world. This creates a particularly high frequency of exploitation and service pressure.
T2 Noi Bai International Passenger Terminal has served more than 7 million international passengers in the first 6 months of the year, operating beyond the designed capacity (current service capacity of T2 Noi Bai Terminal is 10 million passengers/year and is under construction to increase to 15 million passengers/year).
The representative of Noi Bai airport also said that many solutions have been applied to improve quality. The airport has optimized flight operations using technology. Since February 1, 2024, Noi Bai International Airport (HKQT) has officially applied the A-CDM model, phase 1.
Accordingly, relevant units at the Port have been proactive in coordinating decision-making, information sharing, and effectively using flight data to ensure flights operate in compliance with the A-CDM process.
In the first 6 months of the year, there were 100,002 flights operated through this system, helping to effectively coordinate the use of runways and parking lots, reducing waiting time on the ground, contributing to improving the flight's punctual flight index.
Noi Bai International Airport continues to closely coordinate with the ATFMC Air Traffic Management Center, airlines, and ground-based units to implement the Multi-point Area Traffic Management (ATFM) at level 3 in Vietnam, thereby improving the initiative in the operation of flight schedules of airlines as well as minimizing flights having to wait when affected by unfavorable operating conditions such as weather, military flight operations, economic and political events of the country, etc.
The port also speeds up the progress of infrastructure upgrade projects. The T2 Noi Bai Passenger Terminal expansion project is being urgently constructed in the form of rolling, both constructing and exploiting. After completion (expected by the end of 2025), the project will contribute to fundamentally solving the overload situation, creating spacious space and improving passenger service capacity.
Tighten management and improve service quality. Noi Bai International Airport is comprehensively reviewing the operations of franchises, requiring quality assurance, listing prices and rectifying the service attitude of employees.
Violations will be strictly handled according to the contract. The port continues to invest in technology to increase utilities such as implementing biometric flight procedures on the VNeID platform, equipping an automatic check-in kiosk system, and the ACV iCute online procedure platform to enhance the experience for passengers passing through the port.
Ensuring absolute security and safety of flight operations: Security and safety are always a top priority. This work continues to receive "Good" reviews from 08 international airlines and the VNAV's Valuation Team for the first 6 months of the year.
In 2025, Noi Bai International Airport was honored by the prestigious global airline rating Skytrax in the Top 100 best airports in the world, at 79 - up 17 places compared to the previous year.
