On May 9, information from the People's Committee of Quynh Anh commune said that an incident had just occurred in the area where a ferocious dog suspected of having rabies bit many people, injuring 6 people, including some who had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Accordingly, a vaccination center in the area has received 5 people to treat injuries and get rabies vaccination after being attacked by dogs.
The cases of being bitten include 3 male students (born in 2014 in Minh Tan, Van Tho and Phu Thinh villages), 1 woman born in 1983 in Hop Cong village and 1 old woman born in 1947 in Minh Tan village.
Among them, the woman born in 1983 had to go to Quynh Minh Health Station to get 4 stitches due to a deep wound.
In addition to the above 5 cases, another person was seriously injured with a bite mark exposing the bone, and is currently being treated at Quang Thanh General Hospital.
According to initial information, the dog showed abnormal signs, continuously rushing to attack passersby. Because the incident happened unexpectedly, many people did not have time to avoid it, so they were bitten on the hands and feet with different degrees of injury.
Currently, local authorities are coordinating with functional forces to monitor and handle the incident and recommend that people proactively vaccinate their pets against rabies, and go to medical facilities immediately when bitten by dogs or cats for timely treatment.
