On the morning of September 16, representatives of the Dong Son Commune Public Service Supply Center, Quang Ngai province, said that they are coordinating to handle the case of a dog suspected of having rabies biting many people in the commune.
According to initial information, at noon on September 15, the dog appeared in the area of Chau Thuan Bien and Phu Quy villages and then bit 6 people in succession. After that, the dog was beaten to death by people.
Upon receiving the news, the Dong Son Commune Public Service Supply Center and related units quickly arrived at the scene. The disease sample from the dog was taken to be sent to the Diagnostic and Testing Station II in Dak Lak, under the Central Veterinary Diagnostic and Testing Center II.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Lac - Deputy Director of the Dong Son Commune Public Service Supply Center - said that in addition to taking samples for testing, functional units have implemented environmental treatment in the area. People bitten by dogs are also informed and mobilized to medical facilities for inspection and rabies vaccination.
