In order to promptly deploy measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters in the mountainous areas, midlands of the North and North Central regions, the Ministry of Health has issued a document requesting the Departments of Health and affiliated health units to strengthen preparation and readiness to respond to emergency situations caused by floods, landslides, flash floods.
The document signed by Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen clearly stated: Units need to strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 123/CD-TTg dated July 27, 2025 and Official Dispatch No. 125/CD-TTg dated August 1, 2025 of the Prime Minister on overcoming the consequences of floods and landslides in Son La and Dien Bien and responding to natural disasters in the Northern region.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes the need to closely coordinate with local rescue forces to promptly rescue injured people in natural disasters. The process of participating in the rescue must ensure absolute safety for medical forces.
Units are also required to review and update disaster prevention plans in accordance with the reality of each locality; check the safety level of medical facilities located in areas at high risk of landslides and flooding and proactively evacuate when necessary. In particular, it is necessary to prepare a plan to relocate hospitals and health stations in low-lying areas to safe places to protect the lives of patients and medical staff.
At the same time, disease prevention after natural disasters is also a top priority. The Ministry of Health recommends that localities implement environmental sanitation, ensure clean water sources, food safety and stabilize medical examination and treatment activities after storms and floods.
