In response to the unusual developments of natural disasters, the People's Committee of Son La province has issued a Decision to declare a natural disaster emergency to respond to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence in July and early August 2025 in the communes of Bo Sinh, Chieng So, Huoi Mot, Muong Lam, Nam Lau, Nam Ty, Song Ma, Muong Lan, Chieng Khoong, Chieng Khuong, Sop Cop, Tan Yen, Mai Son, Son La province.
The Son La Provincial Civil Defense Command has established a Forward Command Department at the Area 2 - Song Ma Defense Command, headed by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The Forward Command Department is responsible for organizing the command and operation of forces and means to participate in storm and flood prevention, search and rescue in the assigned area.
Proactively deploy response plans to natural disasters and incidents according to the risk level and approved plan. Direct the evacuation of residents from dangerous areas; organize emergency relief, medical care and ensure the lives of people in disaster areas.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, floods have caused flooding, isolating 15 villages in Muong Hung, Chieng Khoong, Chieng Khuong, Chieng So, Huoi Mot, Bo Sinh, Nam Ty, Muong Lam, Song Ma, Muong Lan, Sop Cop, Pung Banh communes.
