On April 18, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that after the unit dismantled a large-scale ring of fake new drug production and trading, the authorities have stepped in to inspect and review medical examination and treatment facilities.

Mr. Do Thai Hoa - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Health - said that after learning about the above incident, the leaders of the Department of Health directed functional units to conduct inspections and reviews. Up to now, these fake drug products have not been detected in circulation at medical examination and treatment facilities.
It is known that out of 21 products seized by the police, there are 4 types of fake new drug: Tetracyclin, Clorocid, Pharcoter, Neo-Codion; the remaining 39,323 boxes include 17 fake products suspected to be performance-enhancing drugs, with labels for use as medicine. However, through analysis and initial testing by the Center for Drug Inspection under the Thanh Hoa Department of Health, most fake oriental medicine contains painkillers.
According to the Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Health, medicine is a special commodity, directly affecting the health and life of patients, so it needs to be strictly managed. The products forged by the subjects cannot penetrate the public hospital system because there are no documents or certificates to participate in the bidding. These fake products are mainly sold online and through retail channels.
Thanh Hoa Health Department recommends that people should be alert when buying medicine, should only buy at reputable establishments, licensed to operate; absolutely should not buy floating drugs on social networks. In particular, when buying drugs, people need to proactively look up the origin before using them. When detecting suspicious signs of the production and sale of counterfeit drugs, immediately report to the health agency or authorities.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the Economic Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police has just dismantled a large-scale counterfeit drug production and trading ring, prosecuted the accused and arrested 14 subjects.
According to the initial investigation, this ring was led by Nguyen Tien Dat (born in 1991, residing in Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi), in collusion with Trinh Doan Giao (born in 1985, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to organize the production and distribution of fake drugs, mainly bone and joint medicine.
The subjects invested in chains, machinery, researched the ingredients of new drugs, then ordered pharmaceuticals, medicinal herbs, and herbs of unknown origin to mix and produce fake drugs. The hired workers are mainly acquaintances or people from other localities, working in a closed manner in a warehouse, without outside contact.
From 2021 to the time of arrest, the total transaction amount of this ring in counterfeit drug trafficking activities was up to 200 billion VND.
