The Hanoi People's Committee has sent a document to the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities on the plan to reorganize the city's commune-level administrative units to collect public opinions and organize People's Council meetings at all levels.
The city plans to reduce from 526 communes and wards to 126 communes and wards after implementing the arrangement of commune-level administrative units.
In the list of 126 new communes and wards, there are names placed in order or after the names of district-level and commune-level administrative units (before the arrangement). In addition, there are also completely new names that have never been used to name administrative units.
- Hong Ha ward: has a natural area of 16.61 km2. Population size 126,062 people. The administrative boundary includes the entire natural area and the population of Chuong Duong and Phuc Tan wards (Hoan Kiem district); Most of the natural and population areas of Nhat Tan, Tu Lien and Yen Phu wards (Tay Ho district); Most of the natural area and population of Bach Dang and Thanh Luong wards (Hai Ba Trung district); Part of the natural and population area of Phu Thuong and Quang An wards (Tay Ho district); Part of the natural area and population of Ngoc Thuy and Bo De wards (Long Bien district).
- Ung Thien commune: With a natural area of 38.50km2. Population of 53,885 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Hoa Vien, Quang Phu Cau, Truong Thinh, Lien Bat communes ( Ung Hoa).
- Hoa Xa commune: With a natural area: 40.43km2. Population of 69,366 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Thai Hoa, Hoa Phu, Phu Luu, Binh Luu Quang communes ( Ung Hoa).
- Kieu Phu commune: With a natural area of 34.57km2. Population of 59,002 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Can Huu, Tuyet Nghia, Liep Nghia communes (Quoc Oai); most of the natural area and population of Ngoc Liep and Ngoc My communes (Quoc Oai); part of the natural area and population of Quang Trung commune (Thach That).
- Vinh Thanh commune: has a natural area of 22.44km2. Population size 42,149 people. The administrative boundary includes the majority of the natural and population area of the communes: Hai Boi, Vinh Ngoc and Tam Xa (Dong Anh); Part of the natural area of communes: Kim Chung, Kim Toan and Xuan Canh (Dong Anh).
- Phuc Thinh commune: has a natural area of 42.68 km2. Population size 90,926 people. The administrative boundary includes the entire area and population of communes: Nam Hong, Bac Hong and Van Noi (Dong Anh); Most of the natural area and population of communes: Nguyen Khe, Tien Duong, Dong Anh Town (Dong Anh); Part of the natural area of communes: Xuan Non, Vinh Ngoc (Dong Anh).
- Thien Loc commune: With a natural area of 28.17km2. Population of 91,896 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Vong La commune (Dong Anh); most of the natural area and population of Dai Mach, Kim Chung, Kim No communes (Dong Anh); part of the natural area of the communes: Tien Phong (Me Linh); Hai Boi (Dong Anh).
- Tay Phuong commune: With a natural area of 31.55km2. Population of 41,468 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Huong Ngai, Lam Son, Thach Xa communes (Thach That); most of the natural area and population of Quang Trung, Phung Xa communes (Thach That); part of the natural area of Quoc Oai town and Sai Son, Ngoc My, Phuong Son communes (Quoc Oai).
- Yen Xuan commune: With a natural area of 70.25km2. Population of 92,333 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Yen Trung, Yen Binh (Thach That) and Dong Xuan communes (Quoc Oai); most of the natural area and population of Tien Xuan commune (Thach That); part of the natural area and population of Thach Hoa and Yen Bai communes (Thach That).
- Thuan An commune: With a natural area of 32.53km2. Population of 86,137 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire natural area and population of Le Chi and Duong Quang communes (Gia Lam); most of the natural area and population of Phu Son, Dang Xa, Co Bi communes (Gia Lam); part of the natural area and population of Duong Xa commune (Gia Lam).
- Duong Hoa commune: With a natural area of 17.43km2. Population of 58,688 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of the communes of Minh Khai, Duong Lieu, Cat Que, Yen So, Dac So (Hoai Duc).
- Nam Phu commune: With a natural area of 13.60km2. Population of 62,044 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Van Phuc commune (Thanh Tri); most of the natural area and population of Ngu Hiep, Duyen Ha, Dong My communes (Thanh Tri); part of the natural area and population of the communes: Yen My, Lien Ninh (Thanh Tri); Ninh So, Duyen Thai (Thuong Tin).
- Tung Thien commune: With a natural area of 32.78km2. Population of 43,439 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Xuan Khanh, Trung Son Tram wards (Son Tay) and Xuan Son commune (Son Tay); most of the natural area and population of Thanh My commune (Son Tay); part of the natural area and population of Trung Hung, Son Loc wards (Son Tay).
- Doai Phuong commune: With a natural area of 57.20km2. Population of 75,800 people. Administrative boundaries include the entire area and population of Kim Son and Son Dong communes (Son Tay); most of the natural area and population of Co Dong commune (Son Tay).
