Eating lychees on an empty stomach can easily cause hypoglycemia
According to Ms. Ha Vu Ham, Deputy Head of the Department of Nutrition, Ninh Ha University Medical Center General Hospital, lychees contain high levels of fructose. If you eat too much on an empty stomach, the blood sugar level will increase rapidly, stimulating the pancreas to secrete more insulin. Meanwhile, fructose needs time to be metabolized by the liver into glucose, causing the body to fall into a state of acute hypoglycemia, also known as "Lychee disease".
People with this condition may experience symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, rapid heartbeat. Severe cases may include convulsions, coma, and even life-threatening. Children are at higher risk due to limited glycogen reserves in the liver and incomplete blood sugar regulation ability.
Experts recommend eating lychees after meals, adults should not eat more than 15 fruits per day, children not more than 5 fruits. After eating, you should rinse your mouth to remove the sugar remaining in the oral cavity, contributing to reducing the risk of ulcers and dental problems.
Eating a lot of durian easily causes internal heat and bloating
According to Mr. Quach Ban, professor of the School of Traditional Medicine, Ninh Ha Medical University, durian is hot. Eating too much can affect digestive function, causing internal heat, dry mouth, constipation, bloating or yellow urine.
In case of eating too much durian, you can eat more mangosteen to balance because this fruit is cool. Experts also note that you should not eat durian with alcohol because both are said to be hot, easily increasing the burden on the body.
Besides, durian and jackfruit are both fruits that contain a lot of sugar and energy. Obese people, people with diabetes, kidney disease or dyslipidemia should limit their use.
Do not eat too much watermelon and leave it in the refrigerator for too long.
Watermelon is a fruit that helps quench thirst in the summer, but according to experts, people with poor digestive system or spleen and stomach deficiency should not eat too much. Each time you should only eat about 500g to avoid causing stomach chills and affecting digestive function.
Watermelons after cutting should be wrapped tightly in clean food wrap, stored separately in the refrigerator compartment and should be used within 24 hours. If stored improperly or left with raw food, the flesh of the fruit may be contaminated with bacteria such as Salmonella or Listeria. Pregnant women, young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems should be careful when eating watermelons overnight.
People with allergic constitutions should be careful with mangoes
Experts also note that the resin in mango peel contains some substances that can cause allergies. Biting the fruit directly can cause the resin to come into contact with the lips and face, causing redness, itching or contact dermatitis.
To limit this risk, you should peel, cut the mango into pieces and use a fork or toothpick to eat, avoid letting the water and mango sap come into direct contact with the lips and face.
