19-year-old girl passed away, leaving a heartbeat that revived many lives

After passing away at the age of 19, the young girl fulfilled her wish to donate organs to save people and revive many other lives.

The organ donation was performed at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Hanoi.

L - a 19-year-old girl with eyes always shining with joy and will to live that anyone who has met her can hardly forget - passed away after many years of resiliently fighting illness. But from the most painful moment, she and her family left for life a noble gesture: organ donation to save people.

She is very emotional...", the mother choked up recalling her daughter in tears.

Since 6th grade, L has undergone two brain surgeries. The pain, the long days of treatment seemed to make her withdraw from life. However, L always chooses to live optimistically, happily and harmoniously with everyone.

After each surgery, she only rests for about two weeks and then insists on asking her parents to let her go to school. She says she is sad at home, only likes to go to class, meet friends and teachers. For many years of treatment, she has almost never skipped school, except for times when she has to have re-examined. Even for extracurricular sessions that teachers worry she is not healthy enough to participate in, L is still excited to attend.

At home, she is the child that makes her parents both proud and heartbroken. Although her health is not really stable, L wakes up every day at 5 am to help her parents clean the stall and do housework. Some days, when she is exhausted, she just lies down to rest for a while and then tries to help the family.

Seeing my father come home from work, I always asked with a very caring voice: Do you want to drink water?, Do you need anything?

Everyone likes her because she is gentle, emotional, and very understanding," her mother recounted.

Not only the family, but the doctors who treated L for many years also had a special affection for her. What made her loved ones most remorseful were L's seemingly trivial words when she was still healthy.

Mom, can I give people my eyes later?

Mom, is anyone taking my heart?

At that time, the mother just thought her daughter was joking, so she brushed it aside. After several surgeries, one of her eyes could no longer see clearly, but L still innocently said: If one side can still see, I will give it to someone else.

No one expected that these words would become the last wish of the little girl.

Amidst the extreme pain when my child passed away, my parents remembered the things my child had reminded me for many years. I once said that I watched online and knew that there are many patients who are just waiting for organ transplants to have a chance to live again.

I'm also grown up, 19 years old... If I can help anyone, I want to help.

And then, the family made a very humane decision: to give away the healthy parts of his body to save others.

Thanks to that noble decision, doctors and nurses have successfully removed and transplanted many tissues and organs to save patients who are close to the brink of life and death.

His heart has revived another life. The liver is transplanted to an adult and a child. Two kidneys provide a chance of survival for two patients with end-stage kidney failure. His lungs and cornea also continue their journey, bringing light and hope to the people who are waiting anxiously for miracles.

A 19-year-old girl has closed her youth with the most beautiful gesture – giving life to others.

You are leaving, but that kind heart is still continuing to beat in the chest of another person. Those eyes are still looking at life in a different way. And somewhere, the life you left behind will continue to write new hopes.

L.'s passing is not only too great a loss for her family and loved ones, but also becomes a story that touches thousands of hearts – when from the depths of pain, a young girl left a priceless gift for life: Life.
