The family of Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy (born in 1986, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) has a 12-year-old son. For more than 10 years, the couple wanted to have another child but could not because she had blocked fallopian tubes and could not have children naturally. 4 years ago, when she went to the doctor, she was advised to freeze her eggs so that she could have children at the right time.
"This year, my health is stable, my family work is also arranged, I decided to do IVF, have another child. When I went to the doctor, he said I was old, the quality of my eggs was no longer good. Luckily, I had stored my eggs in advance, so the quality of the embryos was guaranteed" - Ms. Thuy shared.
Infertility is getting younger
According to Master, resident physician Trinh Thi Ngoc Yen - Center for Reproductive Support and Tissue Transplant Technology - Hanoi Medical University Hospital, currently, more and more people are learning about and performing egg freezing because they tend to be very concerned about their reproductive health. Especially, in the current period, the trend of infertility is gradually getting younger.
"We have encountered many young cases, only to discover that their ovarian reserve has been greatly reduced when they went for a check-up. There are even cases born in 1998-2000 (24-26 years old) who have had to freeze their eggs," said Dr. Yen.
For example, the hospital recently received a case of a girl born in 1998 whose ovarian reserve had been reduced. Therefore, the only way was to advise and instruct the patient to freeze her eggs to preserve her ability to become a mother in the future.
According to the doctor, women today tend to be independent, taking on roles in society and also financially independent. They tend to marry late and be independent in all aspects of life. At the same time, their awareness of reproductive issues is also increasingly better. They have many channels to access information.
Besides, the interest and understanding of young people is much better than before. Many people have gone for premarital health check-ups. This has helped them know their current ovarian reserve so that they can have the right attitude and treatment in having children.

Those who are not married and do not intend to get married should go for a check-up and get their reproductive health checked by a doctor. If the time to get married is too long and their ovarian reserve is not good, they should freeze their eggs to have a backup plan for their future.
