On the afternoon of June 9, Bac Quang Binh General Hospital said that the Emergency - Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department had just received a 13-year-old patient who suffered severe electrical burns due to an accident while releasing a kitchens near a high-voltage power line.
According to the patient's family, the incident occurred while the student was playing kitchens in an empty lot near a residential area. During the kite control process, the kite rope was entangled with a high-voltage power line. While trying to remove the kite, the child was electrocuted by a flash, fell on the spot, causing severe burns to the arms, chest and signs of impaired consciousness.
Immediately upon admission, doctors urgently controlled the airway, circulation, treated burns, prevented shock and IV fluids. After stable first aid, the patient was transferred to a higher level for further treatment.
Doctor Tran Thanh Tinh - Head of Department said that electrical burns are an extremely dangerous type of accident, which can cause deep damage to muscles, bones and internal organs. Proper and timely emergency care is a factor that determines the victim's survival.
Doctors recommend that people should not let storks near power lines and absolutely avoid using metal wires, steel core wires or wet wires - materials that can easily conduct electricity and endanger life.
