On August 26, Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that the unit is continuing to treat patient L.P. T. who had an accident.
On the night of August 13, patient L.P. T. (born in 1994, Vietnam) was transferred to Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in critical condition after a traffic accident occurred in Cambodia.
At the time of admission, the patient was in a deep coma. Faced with a situation directly threatening life, the hospital urgently activated the emergency procedure, mobilizing many specialties to coordinate treatment.
The patient was actively resuscitated, intubated, ventilated, and underwent emergency CT scan of the skull and inter-specialized consultation overnight.
The diagnosis results showed that the patient suffered a very severe traumatic brain injury with subdural hematoma of the left hemisphere of the cerebral hemisphere, accompanied by a complex fracture of multiple bones in the frontal skull area, fracture and subsidence of the D12 vertebra, contusion of the parenchyma of the two lungs and many other lesions.
According to doctors, this is a condition of injury with a very high risk of death if surgery and emergency resuscitation are not performed.
More worryingly, with the level of severe damage and unstable hemodynamics, the patient may die immediately during surgery.
On the same night, the surgical team performed emergency surgery to resolve life-threatening lesions. During the surgery, the patient was transfused with 3 units of fresh frozen plasma and 4 units of red blood cells to compensate for blood loss and maintain stable hemodynamics.
After 10 days of intensive treatment, the patient's condition has improved quite well. Currently, the patient has opened his eyes naturally, vital signs are stable and there are signs of consciousness recovery. In the near future, the patient will continue to be closely monitored, resuscitated, and functionally rehabilitated to improve mobility.
