This regulation establishes a process to record the right to use, inspect the origin, quality and manage geographical indication stamps for Ngoc Linh ginseng products.
According to the newly issued regulations, procedures, organizations and individuals who need to use the "Ngoc Linh" geographical indication must prepare dossiers and submit them to the Da Nang City Department of Science and Technology. The dossier includes a written request, documents proving production activities in the protected geographical area, documents proving the nature and quality of products, dossiers on technical procedures and related documents.
After receiving, the Department of Science and Technology checks the completeness and validity of the dossier. If the dossier is not valid, organizations and individuals are required to supplement it. For valid dossiers, this agency transfers the dossier for practical inspection coordination.
The appraisal focuses on the origin of the planting area, the quantity and age of ginseng plants, varieties, tubers quality, technical processes and production areas. The working group can take tubers and leaves samples for analysis and testing when necessary.
Products with geographical indications must be ginseng tubers from 4 years old or older, produced in a geographical area as prescribed and meeting the specific characteristics and quality that have been protected.
If the requirements are met, the Department of Science and Technology will record the right to use, issue a geographical indication code and publicly announce the list of recognized organizations and individuals.
Qualified products are also managed by geographical indication stamps and QR codes for traceability. Stamps are only used for qualified products, with the principle of one stamp for one ginseng root.
The process in the map is expected to consist of 9 steps, with a reference time of about 25-35 working days from the time of receiving complete and valid dossiers.
