In recent days, due to the impact of storm No. 4, there have been prolonged heavy rains in Hai Phong city. According to people's reflections in the commune, tap water supplied to households has a cloudy yellow color, causing concern about quality and affecting daily life.

In order to proactively control clean water quality, ensure health safety and people's lives, Hung Thang Commune People's Committee established an inter-sectoral inspection team led by Mr. Vu Trong Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, to inspect clean water supply activities at 2 water plants including Hung Thang Water Plant and Tan Son Water Plant.
At Hung Thang Water Supply Plant, the inspection team conducted actual inspections of the operating process and water quality assurance conditions. At the time of inspection, the unit provided internal water quality inspection results, training certificates of operating staff; had a business registration certificate and performed water treatment according to the process.

Regarding Tan Son Water Plant, through inspection, the Team pointed out some shortcomings and limitations that need to be urgently overcome. The chlorine concentration measurement equipment in water does not meet the requirements; operating staff do not have professional training and fostering certificates; there are no water sample storage cabinets; operating procedures have not been standardized.
At the inspection, representatives of the 2 water plants said that due to the impact of storm No. 4, prolonged heavy rain caused the inflow water to at times contain a lot of alluvium and impurities, affecting the treatment process and water quality after treatment. In addition, the plants are in the water supply relocation phase; the settling tank and filter system have deteriorated, also affecting the quality of water supplied.

The inspection team requested water plants to quickly overcome the identified shortcomings and limitations; urgently review the entire production and operation process; have mechanisms and measures to strictly control and supervise the water treatment process; proactively develop contingency plans in case prolonged heavy rain affects input water sources.
Hung Thang Commune People's Committee will continue to monitor, supervise, and post-inspect the operation of water plants; and at the same time continue to propose to the City People's Committee, based on the city's policy of assigning relevant departments, branches, and units to study the construction of new water plants and convert water supply areas. Thereby, meeting the demand for clean water use, contributing to ensuring safe and stable water sources, serving the daily life of people in the area.
