On June 14, information from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai said that the unit had just received the case of Mr. V (born in 1959), in Chu Prong district, Gia Lai, who was hospitalized in a state of multiple serious injuries.
Previously, Mr. V was attacked by his biological son (born in 1985), who had a history of mental illness, using a hook while he was at home alone to look after his grandchild.
According to the family, while his wife was working, he was taking care of his son when he was suddenly attacked. He was admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries to his right knee, left leg and left arm, and severe blood loss, endangering his life.
As soon as it received the hospital, it activated the inpatient alarm. The Departments of Emergency, Neurosurgery - Orthopedic Trauma, Anesthesia and Resuscitation urgently coordinated to save the patient's life.
The surgical team performed a cutting, treating the software damage, recovering muscle tissue and draining the wound. The patient was also given 5 units of blood, strong antibiotics, painkillers and thorough wound care after surgery.
Currently, after many days of intensive treatment, the patient is conscious and can move easily. Doctors recommend that families with relatives with mental illness need to pay special attention, supervision and coordination with medical facilities for long-term treatment, ensuring safety for patients and those around them.
This is also a reminder for the community to raise awareness, not to be subjective in the face of unusual signs of psychology in the family.
