Gold Land tells the story of Hee Joo (Park Bo Young) - a security inspector at an international airport who suddenly becomes entangled in a gold smuggling ring. From there, Hee Joo was caught up in an underground world revolving around the first casino in Korea.
The relationships surrounding Hee Joo include Jang Wook (Kim Sung Cheol) - Hee Joo's high school classmate and now a gang member; Lee Do Kyung (Lee Hyun Wook) - boyfriend and a pilotside assistant for the smuggling organization; Supervisory Director Park Ho Cheol (Lee Kwang Soo); veteran police officer Kim Jin Man (Kim Hee Won); Yeo Sun Ok (Moon Jung Hee) - Hee Joo's mother.
According to Korean media, as an actress who is receiving a lot of affection from the audience for her role as twin sisters Mi Ji and Mi Rae in the movie "A Seoul unknown", Park Bo Young's transformation in "Gold Land" is expected to play the main highlight of the movie.
Talking about the new project, the 9X star said: "I am very excited to try a new genre. The process of Hee Joo - who seems to be indifferent to gold - has changed as he gradually becomes drawn into human nature and ambition, promising to be described in an interesting way.
Currently, A Seoul unknown has aired 6/12 episodes. Although it did not receive much attention at first, later on, the work's achievements were surprising. In addition to increasing viewership ratings, the film also ranked 3rd on the Netflix TV Show Global Ranking (not in English).
The work was written by Lee Kang and directed by Park Shin Woo and was praised for its sophisticated and profound content. In addition to the story of the journey to adulthood of young people, the film brings viewers moments of healing, comfort and learning to love themselves more.
Notably, the film director is also the one who directed the film Ask the Stars (played by Gong Hyo Jin, Lee Min Ho). The work was invested in "huge" but was criticized for being easy to write because the script was difficult to understand and outdated.
