On the morning of September 18, the Da Nang Red Cross Society coordinated with the City Traffic Safety Committee to organize a first aid drill to respond to traffic accidents for the Society's staff and Red Cross volunteers.
At the rehearsal, first aid volunteers were divided into 7 teams representing 7 districts.
The teams went through a simulated traffic accident on an inner-city road.
A car (7 seats) driven by a high-speed driver lost control while turning a corner and collided with 2 motorbikes in the same direction carrying 4 people, 1 cyclist and 2 tourists walking, causing 7 people to fall onto the road and be injured.
The city's first aid volunteer team performed first aid skills on spinal injuries, punctured abdominal wounds with exposed intestines, bleeding forearm wounds... before the medical staff arrived at the scene.
Ms. Thai Thi Ha, Vice President of the Da Nang Red Cross Society, affirmed: "Through the exercise, we have helped raise public awareness of the importance of first aid in responding to injuries in general and traffic accidents in particular. This encourages people of all ages to participate in first aid training.
At the same time, it also improves the necessary first aid skills for key association staff and Red Cross first aid volunteers at all levels so that they can save their own lives and help save the lives of those around them in emergency situations."
According to the Da Nang Red Cross Society, the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Da Nang Red Cross Society set a target that by 2026, 10% of the population will be equipped with knowledge on accident and injury prevention and first aid.
100% of all levels of the association build and standardize the team of trainers, guides, and first aid volunteers according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
Up to now, the Association at all levels throughout the city has built a network of 10 trainers, 25 guides, and 4,446 first aid volunteers.
