Viet - Han Da Nang Hospital on August 18 said that after nearly 10 days of treatment, the woman who suffered heat shock while working outdoors in the sun has recovered, and is expected to be discharged on August 19.
Previously, on August 9, Ms. Do Thi H. (54 years old), residing in Tam Anh commune, Da Nang city, went to burn the field at noon. At about 3:30 pm, people discovered her lying unconscious and took her to Viet - Han Da Nang Hospital.
When admitted to the hospital, Ms. H. was drowsy, with a Glasgow 10/15 score, body temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, rapid heartbeat and reduced blood oxygen levels. Doctors immediately resuscitated, infused fluids, supported breathing and performed necessary tests.
The results of the brain CT scan did not record acute lesions. However, tests showed impaired kidney function, disordered blood clotting system, and increased myocardial injury indicators.
The patient was transferred to the Intensive Care - Anti-poison Department. Doctors determined that Ms. Hue had heat shock, accompanied by acute kidney failure, blood clotting disorders and myocardial damage.

Hoang Thi Thu, Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison, said that the treatment team focuses on controlling body temperature, circulatory resuscitation, fluid and electrolyte compensation, respiratory support, and using vasopressors when needed. Patients are closely monitored to detect and treat complications.
After 5 days of intensive treatment, Ms. H.'s consciousness and circulation gradually improved. Functions of organs are more stable. By August 13, the patient was eligible to be transferred to the General Internal Medicine Department for continued monitoring. She is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the afternoon of August 19.
Ms. H. said that at the time of the incident, she went to the field to burn from about 12 pm. Due to the hot sun, she felt suffocated and then fainted. After waking up, she expressed her gratitude for the care of the doctors.
