On July 10, the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health informed that the locality had just recorded 2 cases of infection with "flesh-eating bacteria" - Whitmore disease.
The first case is Mr. B.I.C (born in 1970, residing in Ea M'roh commune, Dak Lak province). On June 11, Mr. C had a continuous high fever, difficulty breathing and cough with phlegm.
From June 18 to 23, the patient went to Buon Don Medical Center for examination and treatment with a diagnosis of acute respiratory failure, severe pneumonia, diabetes...
On June 23, the patient was admitted to the Central Highlands General Hospital with a diagnosis of severe pneumonia/type 2 diabetes/hypertension.
On July 2, the patient tested positive for Burkholderia pseudomallei bacteria.
The second patient is Mr. D.L.M (born in 1960, residing in Hoa Son commune, Dak Lak province).
On June 14, the patient had symptoms of fever and diarrhea. On June 24, the patient went to the Central Highlands General Hospital for examination and was diagnosed with urine deficiency due to prostate enlargement/hypertension.
On June 30, the patient tested positive for Burkholderia pseudomallei bacteria.
Doctor H'Nuen hydok - Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Central Highlands General Hospital - confirmed that after receiving 2 patients with Whitmore disease, the hospital has treated the patients according to the plan of the Ministry of Health. Currently, the health of both patients is stable.
