On December 20, the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund held a workshop on developing a communication plan for the next phase of tobacco harm prevention, especially for the prevention of electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products and other new tobacco products.
According to the draft Plan, in the 2025 - 2030 period, the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund will focus on implementing Resolution No. 173/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on questioning activities at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly, with the content of "prohibiting the production, trading, import, storage, transportation, and use of electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, gases, and addictive substances that are harmful to human health from 2025".
The communication goal is to prevent the use of e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and other new tobacco products in the community, especially among young people.
Specifically, the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund continues to promote communication activities on mass media, social networking platforms... to raise awareness of the harmful effects of using e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and new tobacco products for the community, especially young people;
Raise awareness of legal regulations related to the prohibition of production, trading, import, harboring, transporting, and using e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, and regulations on inspection and punishment.
The Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund also mobilizes and enhances the participation of sectors, unions, social organizations and prestigious people in the community, schools, families... in propaganda to prevent the use of electronic cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and other new tobacco products.
“Each media target will have appropriate access to information to create consensus in preventing new tobacco products,” said Dr. Phan Thi Hai, Deputy Director of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund, who chaired the workshop.
At the workshop, representatives of domestic and foreign organizations, reporters from newspapers and radio stations... contributed their enthusiastic opinions to "join hands" with the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund to implement Resolution No. 173/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly, effectively preventing e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products from entering the community, especially among young people.
