Pre-match information
According to the schedule, the Vietnamese team will host Myanmar at Viet Tri Stadium in the final match of Group B - ASEAN Cup (formerly known as AFF Cup) 2024.
Previously, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team missed the chance to advance to the semi-finals after a 1-1 draw with the Philippines. Therefore, the "Golden Star Warriors" are aiming for a favorable result to complete their goal.
Speaking at a press conference before the match, the Korean coach shared: "This is the final match of the group stage to determine whether Vietnam will win the top spot or not. We are confident and well prepared. Although the schedule is a bit tiring, everyone is preparing actively. Hopefully the whole team will have good results."
Currently, the Vietnamese team has 7 points, 3 points more than Indonesia and Myanmar. In theory, Quang Hai and his teammates will continue with the top spot in the group if they draw or win against Myanmar in the last round; or are only allowed to lose by 1 goal and must score against Myanmar (lose 1-2, 2-3, 3-4...).
In case Vietnam loses 0-1 to Myanmar, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team need to wait for Indonesia to beat the Philippines with a difference of no more than 2 goals (2-1, 2-0, 3-1...).
In addition, the Vietnamese team will enter the semi-finals as second place in the group after losing 0-1 to Myanmar in the final round and Indonesia beating the Philippines with a difference of 3 goals or more (3-0, 4-1, 4-0...).
