On August 12, at a regular press conference organized by the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health was asked to respond to the content published in Lao Dong Newspaper in the article "Dozens of people in Dak Lak hospitalized after eating banh mi".
According to the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health, the unit has received a proposal from the People's Committee of M'Drak Commune to fine the vitamin supplementation facility of Ms. T - where the food poisoning incident occurred, causing 38 people to be hospitalized.
Specifically, from July 18 to 20, in M'Drak commune, there were a total of 38 cases hospitalized with symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and mild fever. All 38 cases of this case had banh mi at the Banh Mi facility of Ms. T.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Dak Lak Department of Health coordinated to verify and report to the Central Highlands Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology about the incident. At the same time, the Department has directed the collection of 8 food samples for quality testing.
The results showed that 3 food samples including silk sausage, soy sauce and egg sauce did not meet the requirements (all contaminated with bacteria).
After the inspection, the People's Committee of M'Drak commune advised the Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision to fine the above-mentioned incense foundation with the amount of 80.5 million VND.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from the evening of July 18 to the morning of July 21, M'Drak Medical Center received 64 patients with signs of digestive disorders and diarrhea. Of which, 38 cases reported eating banh mi at Ms. T.'s facility.
Patients are scattered in M'Drak commune, the youngest patient is 3 years old, the oldest is 59 years old.
