Keeping the body hydrated is essential to maintain energy, support circulation and help the body function effectively, especially in hot weather or when exercising a lot. However, some types of drinks can backfire.
Energy drink
Some energy drinks contain diuretic ingredients, such as taurine amino acid.
Taurine is often supplemented to support motor performance, but it can also increase the frequency of bowel movements and sweating, thereby causing the body to lose more water. In addition, many energy drinks also contain very high levels of caffeine, sometimes equivalent to more than 2 cups of coffee, further increasing the risk of dehydration.
Caffeinated drinks
Consuming too many caffeinated drinks can cause the body to lose water due to increased sweating and going to the toilet. If it exceeds 4 cups of coffee per day, the body may lose more water.
Caffeine tolerance is different for each person. However, to maintain enough water for the body, you should balance caffeine-containing drinks by drinking more filtered water during the day.
