On February 1, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that during the 6-day Lunar New Year holiday (January 25 - January 31, 2025), 11 patients were hospitalized due to accidents related to firecrackers and fireworks.
Of these, 8 cases had to be hospitalized, with no deaths. Gia Lai Provincial Children's Hospital received the most patients, with some suffering from multiple injuries.
Most of the injuries were caused by homemade fireworks and fireworks. The ease of purchasing materials through online platforms has increased accidents caused by fireworks.
According to doctors, most of the victims were students, hospitalized with injuries to their arms. Some had crushed arms and legs that required amputation, while others had broken arms and legs or severe burns that required transfer to higher-level facilities for treatment.
In this context, the authorities have been stepping up propaganda and education to raise awareness and prevent the trend of making dangerous fireworks on social networks.
