Still infertile without disease, doctors point out the reason why many couples ignore it

Many infertile couples even though the examination results are completely normal. Psychological pressure can be a silent cause hindering conception.

After two years of marriage but no children, Ms. Pham Phuong Thao (Bac Ninh) and her husband decided to go to An Viet Reproductive Support - IVF Center, An Viet General Hospital for examination and to find the cause of infertility.

Through medical history exploitation and comprehensive assessment, Dr. Trinh Thi Hien, An Viet Fertility Assistance - IVF Center, said that the cause does not stem from obvious gynecological or andrological diseases. What greatly affects the couple's ability to conceive is the psychological factor during sexual intercourse. Prolonged stress affects married life, reducing the chance of natural pregnancy.

Examination results showed that the reproductive function of both was normal and suitable for performing intrauterine intrauterine (IUI) technique. In addition to the indication to perform IUI to increase fertility, the wife was also consulted and psychologically supported to reduce pressure and improve the quality of sexual life.

After treatment, Ms. Thao received good news of pregnancy.

I felt relieved not only because I was pregnant but also because the doctor explained that my problem could completely be improved. I no longer feel self-conscious or pressured as before" - Ms. Thao shared.

According to Dr. Trinh Thi Hien, infertility treatment is not only based on assisted reproductive techniques but also needs a comprehensive approach, including psychological health care and improving the sex life of both husband and wife. When psychological barriers are removed, combined with appropriate treatment methods, the chance of pregnancy will be significantly increased.

Doctors said that IUI is currently one of the assisted reproductive methods commonly applied thanks to its minimal invasiveness, reasonable cost and is suitable for many cases of mild to moderate infertility.

This technique is performed by selecting and processing sperm, then pumping it directly into the uterine cavity at the right time when the woman ovulates. Shortening the travel distance of sperm helps increase the chance of encountering the egg and fertilizing.

The procedure takes place quickly, is almost painless, minimally invasive and patients can live normally immediately after performing it.

According to Dr. Trinh Thi Hien, IUI is often indicated for cases of fertilization disorders that have been treated, reduced sperm count or mobility, unexplained infertility, abnormalities in the cervix or couples who have difficulty in sexual intercourse due to sexual dysfunction in men such as erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder. This method is also applied in some cases of using frozen sperm as prescribed.

However, the effectiveness of IUI is not the same in all patients but depends on many factors such as the wife's age, ovarian reserves, sperm quality, fallopian tube condition as well as causes of infertility.

Therefore, doctors recommend that couples who are late in having children should seek medical examinations at specialized facilities to be fully assessed, determine the correct cause and choose appropriate treatment methods, avoiding prolonging the time, causing the chance of pregnancy to decrease with the woman's age.
