Cheap beauty, expensive price
Ms. D.T.H.T (37 years old, Nghe An) once suffered pain after sucking up thigh fat at an unlicensed spa. When admitted to the hospital, her legs were swollen, plump, and unable to walk. Doctors from the Department of Plastic Surgery (Bach Mai Hospital) had to have multiple surgeries, treat infections, and regenerate the body.
"If it takes a little longer, the damage can spread to tendons, muscles, bones and leave disability for life," said Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Viet Dung, Head of the Department of plastic surgery, Bach Mai Hospital.
After a long period of treatment, Ms. T was "healed" both physically and mentally.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Viet Dung shared that many cases are even more complicated, such as the case of a 30-year-old pregnant woman who was hit by a car and had an ath male goiter after being vaccinated at an unprestigious facility while pregnant with IVF. Doctors had to consult the whole hospital to both save the mother and protect the fetus. After two months of treatment, the patient was stable, the fetus developed normally, and did not have to remove the edema.
"People need to learn carefully before making a living. Choose licensed hospitals or facilities with specialized doctors and equipment that meet standards. Because just one wrong choice, the journey to find beauty can turn into a tragedy called "losing money, getting sick", Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Viet Dung warned.
