Dr. Nguyen Huu Quang - Deputy Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Aesthetics and Functional Rehabilitation (National Hospital of Dermatology) - said that near Tet, the demand for beauty is increasing, leading to a series of dangerous complications due to filler and stem cell injections at unlicensed facilities. Many cases have to be hospitalized for emergency treatment, facing the risk of necrosis, even loss of vision.
The number of patients coming for examination due to cosmetic complications increased by about 30%, mainly young people. The main reason comes from choosing unreliable beauty facilities and being greedy for cheap prices.

T.H.H (30 years old) wanted to beautify herself to welcome Tet, so she went to a "underground" beauty salon to get filler injections to improve her breasts. About two weeks after the injection, H's breasts began to show hard blocks, then it became increasingly swollen and painful, accompanied by obvious signs of inflammation.
Too worried, H went to the National Hospital of Dermatology for examination in a state of infection, severe chest abscess after injecting a filler (HA).
Through examination and necessary tests, doctors diagnosed the patient with right breast abscess - a serious complication of improper filler injection. The patient underwent emergency surgery, removing breast tissue and necrotic fat tissue, aspirating about 150 ml of pus, placing drainage and pumping to clean the abscess. Currently, the patient's health has stabilized and continues to be monitored and treated.
The need for breast augmentation is legitimate, but injecting filler into the breasts poses many potential risks. The breasts are large tissue areas, complex structure, and not suitable for injecting large amounts of filler," Dr. Quang said.

With the desire to have a perfect appearance to welcome Tet, Ms. T.T.,Q (25 years old in Quang Ninh) - who has a thin face and a tucked temple area - chose to inject filler to fill. A year earlier, Q had injected filler and did not experience complications. However, in the second injection, after only two days, her face was distorted, swollen, red, and had persistent pain, forcing her to go to the National Hospital of Dermatology for examination.
Through examination, doctors determined that Q was infected during filler injection. In the right side of the face, inflammatory tissues appeared, were absorbing and forming pus. The cause was determined to be that the procedure did not ensure sterility.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Quang added that in fact, many types of fillers used for breast augmentation on the market are floating products, not licensed, easily causing clots, deformities, infections, and even tissue necrosis. More dangerously, fillers can move to other areas, causing serious damage and hindering breast cancer screening.
Instead of going to hospitals or licensed medical facilities, many people turn to spas, even places that do not have medical functions such as hair salons, shampoos to get fillers, stem cell injections. The service price here is only 1/3 to 1/4 compared to hospitals, but it poses a very high risk. There are no beauty methods that are both cheap, fast and absolutely safe. Don't trade health, even life, for attractive advertisements" - Dr. Nguyen Huu Quang advised.
Besides fillers, stem cell injection services are also being heavily advertised by many spas on social networks near Tet. However, according to experts, proprietary stem cell technology is currently only licensed by the Ministry of Health in the treatment of some diseases such as cancer, ulcerative lesions. The application of stem cells in the beauty field is still in the research phase.
