Tomorrow (September 9), Hanoi Medical University will organize Match Day 2026 - Registration Day for resident doctor training major course 51 (2026-2029).
Notably, in the information announced before the event, the school mentioned the future of this special enrollment method.
According to Hanoi Medical University, in the coming years, the method of enrolling resident doctors may have changes to suit the new regulations and context.
But up to this point, Match Day is still the most suitable choice for Hanoi Medical University to ensure objectivity, transparency, and timeliness in admissions and resident doctor training" - a representative of the school said.
Publicize rankings and targets in real time
One of the reasons given by Hanoi Medical University is the publicity and transparency of this method.
Match Day has been applied and maintained continuously by the school since 2016. At the event, the entire ranking, targets and process of selecting resident doctor training majors are publicly announced live in real time.
According to the school, this organization method aims to show a commitment not to subjectively interfere in the enrollment activities chain, and at the same time eliminate the possibility of interfering with applications or adjusting targets outside the process.
The selection process is also designed according to the exam result ranking. Candidates are named according to the total score ranking from high to low. People with higher rankings are prioritized to choose their major first.
The selection process and the remaining number of targets of each major are updated in real time on the Real-time Dashboard system via the central LED screen.
As soon as the final target of a major is selected, the computer system will automatically lock that major.
The selection is only officially effective after the candidate directly signs the confirmation in the Major Registration Book. After Match Day ends, the school does not receive and resolve any requests for major change.
According to Hanoi Medical University, candidates deciding and signing confirmation of majors on the spot also helps "eliminate the virtual rate", accurately finalizing the list of admitted students according to the announced targets immediately after the event ends.
780 candidates eligible to choose 444 targets
Another goal of Match Day emphasized by the school is to empower candidates to choose career orientation.
Instead of imposing the selection of majors and competition in the enrollment major group according to fixed quotas when registering for admission, candidates at Match Day base on their scores to choose majors that are suitable for their passions, strengths and career development orientation.
Before Match Day, the school and departments organized many programs to provide information about majors, professional development roadmaps and professional experience so that candidates have more basis to consider before choosing.
In 2026, 1,114 graduates from 18 training institutions in health sectors nationwide registered to take the resident doctor exam at Hanoi Medical University.
Among these, 780 contestants reached the quality assurance threshold, meeting the conditions to participate in Match Day.
The total number of resident doctors approved is 444, allocated to 37 training programs under the Clinical, Paraclinical and Basic Medicine blocks.
Sending a message to new students, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu - Rector of Hanoi Medical University - said that each resident doctor major has its own value and brings opportunities for success if learners try hard, are passionate and persistent in pursuing it.
New resident doctors, please prepare your will and bravery to enter 3 years of harsh but also extremely valuable study to grow up and affirm yourself" - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu advised.
Hanoi Medical University was assigned by the Ministry of Health to train resident doctors from 1974. Over 52 years, the school said it has trained more than 6,000 resident doctors.
Match Day has been applied since 2016. After 11 years of enrollment innovation, the "Match Day 09/09" event has become a traditional activity in the enrollment of resident doctors at Hanoi Medical University.
