Patient N.V.T (55 years old, Ban Co ward, Ho Chi Minh City) who is being treated at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital is very happy because he was examined and screened for cancer for free by doctors on the occasion of National Health Day.
Not only Mr. T, but the "0 VND Cancer Screening" program also offers 50 slots for family members of patients being treated at the hospital at the Specialist Clinic from April 6 - August 8 and 250 slots for patients being treated at the hospital to participate in free vaccination from April 6 - October 4. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it had provided free check-ups for about 13,800 people, of which 8,784 (63.7%) people had health problems that needed monitoring or treatment.
Among the 8,784 people with health problems, there are 4,206 cases that need to be further monitored and managed at health stations and 4,578 cases that need to be transferred for further diagnostic and intensive treatment.
In which, the chronic disease group accounts for the largest proportion with 7,642 visits (there are 3,434 cases requiring monitoring at the grassroots health level and 2,904 cases requiring referral). The cancer screening group, out of 1,180 screening visits, there are 341 cases requiring referral for diagnostic and intensive treatment.
For other specialties, including dermatology, gastroenterology, respiratory, psychiatry and maxillofacial dentistry, a significant number of disease detections has also been recorded.
At many examination points, people are measured blood pressure, samples taken for testing, ultrasound, eye examination, oral care and specialist consultation... Many cases after examination have been instructed to monitor at health stations or scheduled referrals for more in-depth assessment.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Chi Thuong - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, National Health Day is not just an event, but a call for action from the whole society. People's health is not only the responsibility of the health sector, but also requires the participation of the entire political system, departments, localities, businesses and each citizen.
The Ho Chi Minh City Health sector is committed to continuing to innovate and improve service quality, strengthen the application of digital technology, develop grassroots healthcare, improve prevention capacity and build a comprehensive, equitable and sustainable healthcare system.
We also hope that each city resident will be more proactive in taking care of their own and their family's health: maintaining a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly, having regular health check-ups, getting fully vaccinated and proactively preventing diseases," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Chi Thuong emphasized.
