Banh chung can cause indigestion. Sticky rice is the main ingredient in banh chung, rich in starch. However, the structure of starch in sticky rice is complex and more difficult to digest than plain rice. If you eat too much banh chung, you are very prone to bloating.
Supplement with cool foods
Eating a lot of banh chung easily causes internal heat. Therefore, you need to actively supplement cooling foods to cool down your body such as:
Water spinach: A cool vegetable, supporting detoxification, reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure and expectorant. Besides processing into dishes, you can squeeze out the juice to drink every day.
Winter melon: It is inherently cooling, helps cool down the body, and supports weight loss. During Tet days, you should drink winter melon tea or eat dishes made from winter melon.
Supports detoxification, good for the digestive tract, reduces bloating. However, if you have stomach pain, you should not eat too much papaya.
Beans: Green beans and black beans both help cool down, support diuretics, reduce internal heat, and effectively reduce boils. After Tet days, you should supplement dishes from beans.
Warm compress
If you feel bloated and hot after eating banh chung, you can try applying warm compresses to your abdomen for about 30 minutes. During the warming process, try combining gentle massage along the clockwise direction to stimulate digestion and reduce discomfort symptoms.
Do not eat banh chung in the evening
Eating a lot of banh chung easily causes bloating, and even makes it difficult to sleep if eaten in the evening. To limit this situation, it is best not to eat banh chung in the evening or eat it too close to bedtime.
Avoid eating too much
Whether it is Tet or a normal day, you still need to maintain a scientific eating habit. For banh chung, you should only eat a moderate amount, each meal should only eat about 1/8 of the cake (equivalent to about 100 - 200gr), do not consume too much to create a burden on the digestive tract.
