On March 15, Song Tu Tay island clinic (Truong Sa special zone, Khanh Hoa province) received and rescued a fisherman who had a labor accident during seafood exploitation at sea.
The patient is Mr. Le Van Dung (53 years old, from Quang Ngai province), a diver on fishing vessel QNg 97939 TS.
According to the fishermen on board, at about 11 am on March 14, when the ship was fishing in the area about 2 nautical miles south of Da Nam island, Mr. Dung unfortunately fell and put his 3rd finger of his left hand into the working curoa cable.

The accident caused severe finger injuries, exposed bones and bleeding profusely. The crew members quickly performed initial first aid for the victim.
At 2:30 PM on March 15, the patient was taken to Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary for emergency treatment. At the time of admission, the patient was awake, had good contact, and had no fever. When removing the bandage for examination, doctors recorded a wound that was damaged around the circumference of the finger in the style of "stripping gloves", revealing bone and losing the ability to fold and extend the 2nd and 3rd joints of the 3rd finger of the left hand.
Through examination and X-ray results, doctors diagnosed the patient with open fracture of the 2 and 3 finger joints of the left hand, about 25 hours after the accident, due to a work accident.
Immediately after that, the doctors and nurses of the clinic consulted professionally and asked for consultation opinions from Central Military Hospital 108. The patient underwent wound cleansing, dissection of crushed tissue, adjustment of the fracture site, sparse stitching and placement of plaster splints on the forearm - hand to fix it.
According to doctors, the wound is at risk of infection and finger necrosis, so it is necessary to continue close monitoring in the coming days. Currently, the patient's condition is being monitored and actively cared for by doctors and nurses of Song Tu Tay Island Clinic.
