On May 7, the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital announced that it had just performed emergency endoscopic surgery on a man who had been hit by a stone and had a drug in his intestines.
Previously, Mr. D.T.C (52 years old, residing in Hoa Hop commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province) was cutting grass when the engine tongue hit a small stone. The rock bounced back, hitting the abdomen hard, causing him to collapse in pain. He was taken to the district hospital and transferred to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi with severe abdominal pain, a stiff abdomen, and a minor wound in the lower abdomen.
CT -scan results showed that the abdominal cavity had air and free fluid - a sign of hollow organ perforation. Dr. Hoang Minh Hung (Department of Surgery) has appointed emergency laparoscopic surgery. During the surgery, the crew discovered a small intestinal hole and a sigma colon hole, accompanied by an abdominal infection. Doctors have washed the abdominal cavity, restoring the small intestine and opening the artificial anus at the position of the colon damage.
After 6 days of post-operative surgery, the patient's condition was stable, with no more drainage. It is expected that the patient will continue to be monitored and have surgery to close the anorectomy in the near future.
