Headaches are a common condition, especially in women, that directly affects the quality of life. Although many mild pain are not worrying, daily headaches can be a warning sign of underlying health problems, from electrolyte imbalance to changes in cerebral blood vessels.
Any medical condition, including headaches, reflects an imbalance in basic bioenergy, says Dr. Manisha Mishra Goswami, MD ( Ayurveda Medicine, India).
The first step to improvement is to identify the cause and take remedial measures such as eating healthy, avoiding alcohol, tobacco and greasy fried foods.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Director of Internal Medicine at CK Birla Hospital (Delhi), explains that high temperatures, stress or dehydration can cause headaches.
Hydration disrupts the delicate balance of electrolytes important for brain function, leading to severe headaches. High temperatures also cause brain blood vessels to dilate excessively, increasing the risk of pain, said Gupta.
To prevent and relieve headaches, Dr. Gupta recommends a number of simple but effective measures:
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water and electrolyte-rich drinks throughout the day.
Find shade, cool your body: Avoid direct exposure to the sun, rest in the refrigerator or use a fan.
Sleep and relaxation: Maintaining regular sleep helps the body cope with heat stress better.
Avoid dehydrated drinks: Limit alcohol and caffeine to reduce the risk of pain.
Eye protection: Wear sunglasses to reduce shine and eye strain, limiting irritation that leads to headaches.
How to maintain healthy habits, you not only reduce the risk of headaches but also protect your overall health, avoiding dangerous warning signals from the body.
