Recorded at Xuyen A Tay Ninh General Hospital, the number of hospitalizations due to snake bites increased during the rainy season. Worryingly, many patients are hospitalized in critical condition.
A typical example is the case of Mr. T (59 years old, Tay Ninh), who was walking across a fence made of thickly planted trees when he was suddenly bitten by a snake. A few minutes later, Mr. T became dizzy, sluggish, vomited and had a stroke. The patient was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Mr. T was diagnosed with grade 3 anaphylactic shock due to snakeheadhead, severe blood clotting disorder and thrombocytopenia... These signs can lead to cerebral hemorrhage, internal bleeding, and a high risk of death.
Doctors performed both anti-antimicrobial shock, huyetosal infusion, and the use of snake repellent serum for the patient. After 24 hours, the patient's condition gradually stabilized.
Another case was Mr. H (38 years old, Tay Ninh) walking through the grass, suddenly feeling a sharp pain in his left foot, he discovered a red-tailed snake with toothprints on his feet. After that, Mr. H's feet were swollen.
Mr. H was taken to the hospital for emergency care in time. Doctors quickly injected snake repellent serum, which helped stabilize his health.
Mrs. B (65 years old, Go Dau, Tay Ninh) was also taken to the emergency room by her family with a similar medical condition. Mrs. B was bitten by a red-tailed snake in her index finger, causing painful swelling while gardening.
Do not apply folk remedies such as drainage of wounds, suction of feces
Doctor Nguyen Tan Phat - Head of the Intensive Care and Poison Control Department of Xuyen A Tay Ninh General Hospital said that every year, during the rainy season - the breeding season of many toxic snake species, the hospital receives many cases of snake bites, especially red-tailed male snake bites. Therefore, people need to be vigilant when going to work or traveling, especially in dusty areas, fields, and gardens.
In particular, if bitten by a snake, take the victim immediately to a medical facility that can provide emergency care and infuse anti-stomach serum. Absolutely do not apply folk methods such as cutting wounds, sucking worms or attaching leaves to trees, because they can cause infection, necrosis, and even directly threaten life.
