Daily symptoms that can be a sign of high blood sugar

thirst, frequent urination or prolonged fatigue can be warning signs of increased blood sugar.

thirst and continuous urination, signs often overlooked

Many people often think that drinking a lot of water and urinating a lot is just a consequence of a busy lifestyle. In fact, this can be a sign of high blood sugar. When blood sugar levels increase beyond control, the kidneys have to work overloaded to filter and excrete sugar through urine. This process is called polyurgy, which causes dehydration and makes you feel thirsty all the time.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this cycle of thirst and frequent urination is one of the typical symptoms of increased blood sugar.

Endocrinologist Rajiv Kovil, an expert at Dr. Kovils Diabetes Center (India), commented: When a patient experiences severe thirst and urinates many times a day, it is necessary to immediately think about the possibility of high blood sugar and go for a check-up. This is an early warning signal but is often overlooked.

Obsessed vision and prolonged fatigue, body reminders

Another often overlooked symptom is sudden blurred vision. When blood sugar rises, the glass can change its shape due to fluid buildup, causing vision to be deformed. If this condition persists without regulation, the retina blood vessels can be damaged, leading to diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of blindness.

Vision changes caused by increased blood sugar are sometimes temporary and can improve when blood sugar is stable again. However, if ignored, long-term complications are inevitable, affirmed Dr. Rajiv Kovil.

In addition, frequent fatigue, even after adequate rest, is also a common manifestation. When insulin is not effective or not produced enough, glucose cannot enter cells to create energy. As a result, the body falls into a state of lack of energy, making you feel exhausted.

This type of burnout is different from the usual fatigue after a day's work. It is persistent and difficult to improve even if you have achieved enough sleep. If the patient sleeps well but still feels exhausted, it could be a sign of uncontrolled diabetes, says Dr. Kovil. Regular blood sugar testing is necessary to avoid complications.

Proactively listen to your body to protect your health

seemingly small signs such as thirst, fatigue or blurred vision can be a warning message the body sends. Skipping them means the risk of delays in detecting and controlling diabetes.

Experts recommend: anyone who is constantly thirsty, has a lot of urination, has changed vision or is tired for unknown reasons should have their blood sugar checked early. Good diabetes control will help prevent complications of cardiovascular, kidney and vision.

As Dr. Rajiv Kovil emphasized: We often blame busy work or lack of sleep, but sometimes it is a sign that the body is calling for help. Early detection and timely control are the keys to a healthy life".
