Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company (Nutifood) has just completed investment procedures in Kido Frozen Food Joint Stock Company (Kido Foods), owning 51% of shares. This deal helps Nutifood complete its supply chain of diverse, high-quality products, meeting the nutritional needs of all ages of Vietnamese consumers.

Take control of the Vietnamese ice cream giant

Kido Foods (a member company of Kido Group) is one of the largest ice cream companies in Vietnam, owning two famous brands, familiar to millions of Vietnamese consumers: Celano and Merino.

Entering the Vietnamese ice cream market very early in 2003, after more than 20 years of development, Kido Foods has become the enterprise with the number 1 market share in the ice cream production and trading sector in Vietnam and has continuously held the "throne" for many years.

Euromonitor statistics show that Kido Foods' sales have grown impressively year by year, holding over 40% market share from 2019 to present, despite fierce competition from many domestic and foreign "giants".

Figures from Euromonitor also show that in 2023, Kido Foods will continue to lead the ice cream industry with a market share of 46.7%. Of which, Merino and Celano alone, independently, have accounted for 25.9% and 19.6% of the market share, respectively, higher than the figures for the entire ice cream industry of the second and third ranked units in the rankings.

Smart strategy, good grasp of consumer tastes, effective business has helped Kido Foods "connect opportunities", opening a new chapter when Nutifood, Vietnam's leading nutrition company, decided to invest and own 51% of the enterprise.

Currently, Kido Foods owns 2 modern processing factories with advanced technology, machinery imported entirely from Europe and Japan in the 2 regions of the South and the North (Cu Chi - Ho Chi Minh City and VSIP - Bac Ninh) to meet the ice cream supply demand for the entire market. Besides ice cream, this enterprise also makes its mark with delicious, high-quality, nutritious and healthy yogurts.

Diversifying Nutifood's nutritional ecosystem

Sharing the reason for investing in Kido Foods, Mr. Tran Bao Minh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nutifood said: “Investing in Kido Foods allows Nutifood to expand its field from healthy nutrition through products that serve the needs of delicious enjoyment, bringing joy to family members. At the same time, this “deal” also allows Nutifood to own a frozen food distribution system with hundreds of thousands of ice cream cabinets covering a wide range from traditional retail points, modern retail to restaurants, hotels, entertainment venues, etc. across the country. That is also the necessary foundation to help Nutifood expand its field through the frozen food industry quickly and most effectively”.

Founded by doctors and nutritionists, over the past 20 years, Nutifood has always strived to bring the best nutritional essence of Vietnam and the world to serve the health of Vietnamese consumers. Not only establishing the Ho Chi Minh City Nutrition Research Center (NRI), Nutifood also invested in and built the Nutifood Nutrition Research Institute of Sweden (NNRIS) - a place that gathers the world's leading experts to pioneer the most advanced nutritional technologies and solutions to serve Vietnamese children in particular and the people in general.

The combination of leading nutrition experts from NRI and NNRIS has helped Nutifood promote its strengths, bringing about differences in research to create diverse product lines, from powdered milk, liquid milk to daily nutritional products such as yogurt, soy milk, cereals... Depending on each need, age (from pregnant mothers to infants, children, teenagers, adults, the elderly), different economic income, each customer can choose Nutifood branded products suitable for themselves and their whole family.

The addition of new member Kido Foods with 2 number 1 brands in the ice cream industry in Vietnam, Celano and Merino, promises to help Nutifood expand its product ecosystem, better meeting the increasingly diverse needs of consumers, especially in the youth and adult segments.
